How do I Search a Library Database?

Answer

Hondros College has access to several different databases and platforms that manage our academic journal subscriptions and eBooks.

  • EBSCO Discovery Service is our comprehensive search platform that allows you to explore the library's resources in one place.
  • EBSCOhost is the platform that houses these databases. You can use each one individually, or you can search multiple databases at once.
    • CINAHL - Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature is a specialized research database that focuses on nursing and allied health fields. It provides access to a vast collection of resources, including academic journals, books, dissertations, conference proceedings, and evidence-based care sheets.
    • MEDLINE - MEDLINE Complete is a leading full-text database of biomedical and health journals. It offers access to 1,553 active full-text medical journals plus comprehensive cover-to-cover indexing.
    • Cochrane Collection Plus - Cochrane Collection Plus combines the most comprehensive databases from the Cochrane Library, a key resource in evidence-based medicine.
    • Academic Search Complete
  • OVID is another platform that the library subscribes to gain access to specific nursing journals that might not be on the EBSCO platforms. For more information on what is included in Ovid, look at What is Ovid and How do I Use It?

The library also has links to several open-access databases that host articles that do not require you to pay or to subscribe to the material to view.
